excellent choice...one of my favorites as well! my favorites are the two scriptures i listed: alma 48:17 and 2 Ne 25:26. the alma one is kind of a goal i have, that maybe someday i can be like moroni. the 2 Ne one i just like because it sums up everyhting the church does, to lead people to Christ.
i love quotes! here are just a few i found that i liked.
"I am a strong believer in luck and I find the harder I work the more I have of it."
Benjamin Franklin
"People forget how fast you did a job - but they remember how well you did it."
Howard Newton
"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."
Thomas A Edison
"If you judge people, you have no time to love them."
Mother Teresa
"Where we love is home, home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts."
Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr
one of my favorite poets is Edgar Guest. he was called the people's poet & i think that is what i like about him. he's very real. here is a good poem by him, although there are many...
Only a Dad
Only a dad with a tired face,
Coming home from the daily race,
Bringing little of gold or fame
To show how well he has played the game;
But glad in his heart that his own rejoice
To see him come and to hear his voice.
Only a dad with a brood of four,
One of ten million men or more
Plodding along in the daily strife,
Bearing the whips and the scorns of life,
With never a whimper of pain or hate,
For the sake of those who at home await.
Only a dad, neither rich nor proud,
Merely one of the surging crowd,
Toiling, striving from day to day,
Facing whatever may come his way,
Silent whenever the harsh condemn,
And bearing it all for the love of them.
Only a dad but he gives his all,
To smooth the way for his children small
Doing with courage stern and grim
The deeds that his father did for him.
This is the line that for him I pen:
Only a dad, but the best of men.
here are a couple of good scriptures, too...
2 Nephi 31:20
20 Wherefore, ye must press forward with a asteadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of bhope, and a clove of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and dendure• to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eeternal• life.
Mosiah 18:8-9
8 And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are adesirous• to come into the bfold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;
9 Yea, and are awilling to mourn with those that bmourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as cwitnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the dfirst• resurrection, that ye may have eternal life—

"Like tributaries lead to the mainstream, so do our small thoughts and actions lead us each day to make us who we are"
-Adam Jarrell
my favorite is...why do today what you could do tommorrow.
Adam, I am totally with you on Alma 48, and 2 Nephi. I want to stencil Alma 48 in Luke's room as he grows. To give him a definite picture of true manhood, like Moroni, like his dad. I also like 2 Nephi because I think It is easy to focus on all the little details of living the gospel, but really , ulitmately it is about Christ. He is the source of truth and strength, and only through Him does anything else become reality. When He enters our hearts, living the gospel becomes truly powerful. Living around so many members of the church, I have seen people who are members of the church for social reasons. The danger comes when trial and tribulation arrive, or when temptation is not overcome. Then the gospel loses all meaning and becomes the enemy. If we truly seek to know and understand our Savior, then the trials, temptations, and tribulations (though hard) lead us to Him.
